VEJUHADIN GHORBANI FROM ROTHERHAM JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Rotherham, a man named Vejuhadin Ghorbani has been sentenced to prison for serious offences involving child abduction and sexual exploitation. The crimes took place in September of 2014, when Ghorbani, aged 37 and residing on Park Mount in Rotherham, targeted three young girls, luring them from a local park in Eastwood.According to reports, the three victims, two of whom were only 11 years old and the third aged 13, were playing in the park when Ghorbani approached them. Using manipulative tactics, he enticed the girls into his vehicle, which was parked nearby. Once inside, he proceeded to offer them alcohol, a move that further compromised their ability to resist or escape. The situation escalated when Ghorbani took the girls to his flat, where he kept them against their will.
The criminal's actions included offering one of the girls a sum of £20 in exchange for sexual favors, and he made repeated references to engaging in sexual acts, clearly indicating his intent and the exploitation involved. The girls were reported missing after they failed to return home that night, prompting a large-scale police investigation and search operation across Rotherham. The community and law enforcement agencies worked tirelessly to locate the missing children and bring the perpetrator to justice.
The following morning, the girls managed to escape from Ghorbani’s flat after discovering his keys while he was asleep. Their escape was a fortunate turn of events that allowed them to seek help and report the incident to authorities. Ghorbani was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offences, including two counts of abduction and one count of trafficking for sexual exploitation involving the three young girls.
Detective Constable Paul Rooney commented on the case, emphasizing the gravity of Ghorbani’s actions. He stated, “This man preyed on these young, vulnerable girls, the effect this had on them should not be underestimated. I would like to praise them for coming forward and reporting their ordeal to police and for the courage they have shown throughout this process.”
He also expressed gratitude towards the families and the local community for their support and cooperation during the investigation. Rooney highlighted the importance of using trafficking legislation in this case, noting, “We utilized trafficking legislation as we felt that most accurately described the actions of this man. This is a great tool to help us tackle crimes against children and young people. We hope that by securing this conviction we are sending a warning to those still choosing to exploit young people.”
Ghorbani’s guilty plea has brought some relief to the victims and their families, sparing them the ordeal of reliving their trauma in court. South Yorkshire Police reaffirmed their commitment to combating all forms of child abuse and exploitation, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in protecting vulnerable children from harm.
