UGOCHUKWU OKORIE FROM LEWISHAM SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Lewisham community, Ugochukwu Okorie, a 47-year-old private tutor residing in St Johns Court, Lewisham, has been handed down a seven-year prison sentence after being convicted of sexually abusing two young girls he was entrusted to teach. The court proceedings revealed that Okorie was found guilty of multiple serious charges, including two counts of sexual assault against a 10-year-old girl and two counts of sexual assault involving a six-year-old girl. These offenses took place during the period when he was employed as a private tutor, raising concerns about the safety of children under his care.
The case took a further disturbing turn when detectives, conducting a search of Okorie’s residence, uncovered a collection of indecent images depicting children. The investigation led to the seizure of numerous CDs and USB sticks, which contained material that was deemed illegal and highly inappropriate. These findings contributed to the charges against him, which he denied throughout the proceedings.
Despite his denials, the evidence presented in court was compelling enough to secure a conviction. The sentencing was carried out at the Inner London Crown Court on July 2, where the judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes committed by Okorie and the breach of trust involved in his actions.
Residents of Lewisham expressed their shock and disappointment over the case, highlighting the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that those in positions of trust are held accountable for their actions. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and protective measures in communities across London and beyond.
