TREVOR VINSON SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS IN PRISON IN CARMARTHENSHIRE FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

In October 2017, Trevor Vinson from Tumble, Carmarthenshire, was sentenced to an extended term of 21 years after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a three-year-old girl and capturing the abuse on his mobile phone.

Vinson, aged 38, had previously pleaded guilty in Swansea Crown Court to six counts of sexual assault and three counts of producing indecent images of a child. The prolonged abuse spanned six months, during which he took numerous photographs and videos of the young girl, including naked images in various poses and footage of her urinating.

The victim’s mother described Vinson as a “monster” who had “destroyed her family,” and expressed her fears that images of her daughter had been shared online.

Prosecutor Catherine Richards stated that Vinson’s assaults involved numerous incidents over half a year, with him recording the abuse via his mobile device. One disturbing picture showed the three-year-old girl with her hands clenched and face covered.

The abuse was uncovered after the girl confided in her mother. When police arrived at Vinson’s home on May 3 to arrest him, he requested time to change clothes and managed to hide the phone containing the incriminating images inside a vacuum cleaner bag, where it was discovered a week later.

During a court reading, the victim’s mother emotionally described feeling “very dark” since learning what her child had endured. She emphasized that Vinson, now residing at Valence Walk in Pembroke, had committed “appalling acts” against a highly vulnerable young girl.

Judge Keith Thomas addressed Vinson directly, condemning his actions. He noted that Vinson posed a significant risk of causing serious harm in the future and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with an additional six years on license. Vinson will be required to register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his access to children.
