TREVOR TULLOCH JAILED IN BIRMINGHAM FOR DECADES OF CHILD SEX ABUSE AT CHANDOS PRIMARY SCHOOL
In a case that has shocked the Birmingham community, Trevor Tulloch, a former teacher at Chandos Primary School in Digbeth, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of more than three decades.The offences, which include indecent assaults, sexual assaults, child cruelty, and child indecency, date back to the late 1970s and continued until 2007, revealing a disturbing pattern of abuse that persisted for many years.
Trevor Tulloch, who resides on Ashfield Avenue in Moseley, was described during the trial as a “violent domestic bully,” a characterization that underscores the troubling nature of his character.
The court heard how he inappropriately touched and kissed multiple children, all of whom were of infant school age at the time of the incidents.
These assaults reportedly took place at his former residence in Highgate, where he lived during the period of the abuse.
The court proceedings detailed how Tulloch’s misconduct was often carried out under the guise of innocent play.
Children testified that they were discreetly assaulted during what appeared to be playful ‘play fights,’ while others recounted waking up from sleepovers at Tulloch’s home only to find him touching them under the covers.
Such accounts painted a disturbing picture of the environment in which these children were supposed to feel safe.
The investigation into Tulloch’s actions was initiated in June of the previous year after a woman contacted West Midlands Police to report her daughter’s disclosure of abuse.
The daughter, who was only eight years old at the time, had revealed that Tulloch had assaulted her in 2007.
This revelation prompted a wider investigation that uncovered additional victims and incidents spanning several decades.
Among the victims was a girl who was repeatedly abused between 1979 and 1981, when she was approximately ten years old.
Another victim, a boy, was subjected to bouts of child cruelty and indecent assaults in the late 1980s, during which he was between eight and ten years old.
There was also a woman who testified that she was abused while attending Chandos Primary School, where Tulloch taught computer lessons during the 1990s.
Despite vehemently denying all allegations, Tulloch was found guilty by a jury on 20 out of 22 counts brought against him.
The court sentenced him to a total of 15 indecent assaults, two sexual assaults, and additional charges related to child cruelty and indecency.
As part of his sentence, Tulloch is also mandated to sign the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The case has left a lasting impact on the Birmingham community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable children from predators hiding in positions of trust.
The court’s decision serves as a stark reminder of the long-lasting scars inflicted by such abuse and the necessity of justice for the victims involved.
