TREVER BREEZE PAEDOPHILE FROM DONCASTER SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CRIME
In April 2007, a disturbing case emerged involving Trevor Breeze, a man from Doncaster, who committed heinous acts against a young girl he had known since she was nine years old.Breeze, aged 44 at the time, exploited the trust placed in him as a family friend, grooming the girl over a period of years before subjecting her to sexual assault and rape.
According to court reports, Breeze used online messaging to communicate with the girl, sending her numerous messages that gradually built a sense of familiarity and trust.
He also bought her gifts, which served as a means of grooming her further.
The abuse escalated when Breeze sexually assaulted her over a nightdress, and eventually, he raped her at his residence on the way back from a shopping trip.
The incident at his house marked a particularly traumatic point in her life, leaving lasting scars.
The case came to light in May 2004 when the girl’s parents discovered inappropriate messages exchanged between their daughter and Breeze on their family computer.
Shocked and disturbed by the content, they immediately contacted the police.
Breeze was arrested and initially denied any wrongdoing.
During the investigation, authorities seized his computer and several floppy disks and CDs, which contained a total of 252 indecent images of children.
Breeze claimed he had no sexual interest in children and that he had downloaded the images out of curiosity, a defense that did little to mitigate his guilt.
In court, Breeze pleaded guilty to charges of raping and assaulting the girl, as well as possessing indecent images.
The hearing took place in March, where he admitted to the crimes.
The court heard that Breeze had initially known the girl’s father but later became a trusted family friend.
He was often left alone with the girl when her mother went shopping and occasionally took her out on trips, further complicating the betrayal of trust.
Prosecutor Sarah Wright detailed Breeze’s grooming behavior, emphasizing how he bought gifts and engaged in sexual acts while the girl was wearing a nightdress.
She recounted that Breeze would kiss her, tell her he loved her, and pick her up from school, maintaining ongoing communication via computer.
One particularly disturbing incident involved Breeze taking the girl on a shopping trip to Meadowhall when she was 11, and on the way home, he claimed he had forgotten something and took her to his house, where he raped her.
The sentencing took place at Sheffield Crown Court, where Judge Michael Murphy handed Breeze a minimum term of seven and a half years in prison, with an additional two and a half years on license.
The judge described the case as a severe breach of trust, emphasizing the betrayal of the girl and her parents.
He also highlighted Breeze’s paedophile tendencies, indicating a serious concern about his psychological state.
The girl’s mother spoke publicly about the devastating impact of Breeze’s actions.
She described a life filled with trauma, stating, “It’s just been devastation after devastation after devastation.
That sentence is nothing compared to what we’ve been through.
She’s 16 now, and from the age of 11, she has lost everything.
She’s been too scared to go out, lost her confidence, and wouldn’t do anything.” She recounted the lowest point in her daughter’s life, which was when her daughter, at age 13, took an overdose of ibuprofen and aspirin, resulting in a four-day hospital stay.
It was only after this incident that her daughter confided in her best friend about the rape, revealing the full extent of her trauma.
Since Breeze’s guilty plea, the girl has begun to recover, and her mother expressed cautious optimism.
She said, “Since March, when he admitted it, she has started to pick up the pieces.
She can now go out to town and spend time with her friends without constantly looking over her shoulder.” The mother also shared the emotional toll the case has taken on their family, especially her three daughters.
She explained her protective instincts, saying, “I do not allow them out of my sight.
I do not trust anyone with my kids, and it’s really hard.
But now, Breeze is locked up, and that’s a relief.”
