A man responsible for the sexual abuse and rape of eight victims over a span of 19 years has finally faced justice.
The crimes committed by Pramod Dhakal, aged 49, were only uncovered in November 2023 after one of the victims confided in her family, prompting others to speak out.
Most of the victims, all children at the time, ranged in age from eight upwards, with only one originating from London while the rest were from Cambridgeshire.
Some victims hesitated to report the abuse initially, worried they wouldn't be believed.
Dhakal, residing on Victorian Crescent in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was detained two days following the police warning, but he denied any sexual assault claims.
He maintained his innocence throughout the trial, which lasted twenty days at Cambridge Crown Court in September.
Following minimal deliberation of less than three hours, the jury unanimously convicted him on 25 counts that included sexual assault on minors, rape, and encouraging children to engage in sexual acts.
On Monday, December 1st, Dhakal was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with an additional eight years on license.
He was also ordered to be registered as a sex offender indefinitely and prohibited from contacting any of his victims during this period.
