TRACEY CARTER FROM CHESTERFIELD BANNED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IN NORTH WINGFIELD

In a recent case that has drawn significant attention within the Chesterfield community, Tracey Carter, also known by her alias Skye Arnold, has been found guilty of neglecting her responsibilities as an animal owner and causing unnecessary suffering to her pets. Residing on Hucklow Avenue in North Wingfield, Chesterfield, Carter’s actions—or lack thereof—have led to a severe legal penalty and a decade-long ban from keeping any animals.

According to court proceedings, it was established in her absence that Carter failed to provide essential veterinary care for her two dogs, resulting in their prolonged suffering. One of the animals, a Neapolitan Mastiff cross, was suffering from a severe and chronic flea infestation. Despite the evident discomfort and health risks associated with such an infestation, Carter did not seek or provide the necessary treatment to alleviate the dog’s suffering. This neglect was deemed a clear violation of animal welfare laws, which emphasize the importance of prompt medical attention to prevent unnecessary pain.

Similarly, her other dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, was also subjected to neglect. The court found that Carter failed to address its flea infestation and allergic dermatitis, conditions that can cause significant discomfort and health issues if left untreated. The neglect extended further, as she did not take adequate steps to protect the dog from pain, injury, or suffering, particularly neglecting its ear infection. The failure to provide timely veterinary care for this condition was another factor that contributed to her conviction.

In sentencing, Tracey Carter received a 26-week jail term, which was suspended for one year, meaning she will not serve time unless she commits another offense within that period. Additionally, she was subjected to a 16-week curfew monitored electronically, restricting her movements during certain hours. The court also ordered her to pay a total of £415 in costs and charges related to the case. Most notably, Carter was disqualified from owning or keeping any animals for a period of ten years, a measure intended to prevent similar neglect in the future.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about animal welfare in the Chesterfield area and underscores the importance of accountability for pet owners who neglect their animals’ needs. The community and animal welfare organizations continue to advocate for stricter enforcement of laws designed to protect vulnerable animals from cruelty and neglect.
