HUNTINGDON MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING TO KILL HIS MOTHER DURING CHRISTMAS FURY
A man named Tony Meenan, aged 30, has been sentenced to jail after a violent incident in Huntingdon on Christmas Eve. According to reports, Meenan became aggressive following an argument at a property on Thomas King Drive around 6:15 pm. During the altercation, he punched holes in a wall, grabbed multiple kitchen knives, and pinned his mother against a wall while holding a knife above his head, threatening to kill her. A relative intervened and managed to take the knife away, after which Meenan fled the scene but was later arrested when he returned to the property. Meenan pleaded guilty to threats to kill and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a private place and was sentenced to 27 months in prison on March 7 at Peterborough Crown Court. He also admitted to racially abusing a police officer but received no separate penalty for this offence. DC Maria Cale described Meenan's behavior as 'absolutely deplorable' and emphasized that domestic abuse remains a priority for law enforcement. The court's decision reflects the seriousness of his actions, which included threats and racially motivated abuse. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the importance of safeguarding victims amid such violent conduct.
