TONY FERRARI SENTENCED IN ALMONDBURY FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES AGAINST TWO GIRLS
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Almondbury, Tony Ferrari, aged 70, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of multiple historic sexual offences involving two young girls.
The disturbing revelations only came to light last year when one of the victims, driven by a need to seek justice, approached the police and disclosed the abuse she had endured years earlier.
Her courage prompted a thorough investigation, which subsequently led to the second girl coming forward to share her own traumatic experiences involving Ferrari.
Ferrari, who resides on Southfield Road in Almondbury, admitted to committing a total of 13 counts of indecent assault against the two victims during the court proceedings.
The details of the offences, which spanned several years, have left a lasting impact on the victims, with one of them suffering ongoing mental health difficulties as a result of the abuse.
The court was informed that she has received counselling to help cope with the trauma.
Prosecutor Sophie Drake addressed the court, expressing her regret that the abuse was not reported sooner, which might have prevented the second girl from becoming a victim.
She emphasized the profound and lasting harm caused by Ferrari’s actions, highlighting the importance of justice for the victims.
Ferrari’s legal representative, Richard Canning, spoke on his client’s behalf, describing him as a hard-working man of previously good character.
Canning acknowledged that the sentence would be particularly difficult for Ferrari given his age and the circumstances.
Judge Geoffrey Marson QC, presiding over the case at Leeds Crown Court, emphasized that despite the passage of many years, the impact on the victims remained significant.
He sentenced Ferrari to seven years in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender indefinitely, underscoring the seriousness of the offences and the court’s commitment to protecting the community from potential future harm.
