TOBY RHIND FROM GLOSSOP SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR SEX OFFENDER ORDER BREACH

In a recent court hearing held in Glossop, Toby Rhind, a resident of Millersdale Court, was sentenced to a 26-week prison term after being found guilty of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).

The court proceedings revealed that Rhind had violated the terms of his SOPO by having contact with another individual listed on the sex offenders register, a breach that occurred between December 1, 2012, and March 1 of the following year.

Rhind-Tutt’s breach was linked to a prior conviction for possessing, creating, or distributing indecent images of children.

Following this conviction, he was subject to the restrictions imposed by the SOPO, which aimed to prevent him from engaging in any contact with other convicted sex offenders.

During the hearing, Lisa Tinsley, representing Rhind, argued that her client was unaware that the person he befriended was also on the sex offenders register.

She emphasized that Rhind had made significant efforts to avoid any communication with this individual once he became aware of their status.

Despite these claims, Magistrate Gerry Tootell stated that Rhind’s breach was deliberate and that he had intentionally concealed the friendship from his probation officer.

The magistrate underscored that such a breach was serious and warranted a custodial sentence.

In the end, the court decided that only a custodial sentence could serve justice in this case, and Rhind was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison.

The court did not impose any costs on him as part of the sentence.
