BLACKPOOL SEX OFFENDER THOMAS THOMPSON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND ORDER BREACHES
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Thomas Thompson, a man with a troubling history as a registered sex offender, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for multiple serious offenses. The charges include sexually assaulting two underage girls and repeatedly violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Authorities first became aware of Thompson’s activities in October 2022, when it was discovered that he was working casually in Blackpool as a security officer and steward.
Despite his status as a registered sex offender, Thompson was required by law to inform police about his employment and any changes to his circumstances.
However, investigations revealed that he had deliberately lied on numerous occasions, denying that he was working or involved in an intimate relationship, even though evidence showed otherwise.
The police investigation uncovered troubling details about Thompson’s interactions with young girls.
Initially presenting himself as a helpful and trustworthy individual, he had invited teenage girls to his residence in Blackpool.
This behavior raised concerns about his intentions, especially given his criminal background.
During the inquiry, officers spoke to several girls who recounted being invited to Thompson’s home, which further highlighted the potential danger he posed.
As the investigation progressed, Thompson left Blackpool and went on the run, fleeing to West Yorkshire in an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement.
Despite his efforts to escape, police tracked him down and arrested him in October 2022.
He was subsequently remanded in custody while awaiting trial.
Thompson, who resides on Ashton Road in Blackpool, ultimately pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to two counts of sexual assault involving girls under the age of 18.
In addition to these charges, he admitted to breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order on five separate occasions.
His guilty plea and the evidence presented in court led to his sentencing, which aims to serve as a warning about the dangers posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses who violate legal restrictions and endanger vulnerable members of the community.
