Pervert jailed for sick sex chats on WhatsApp with '10-year-old girl'

PERVERT JAILED FOR SICK SEX CHATS ON WHATSAPP WITH '10-YEAR-OLD GIRL'

A pervert who spent eight months talking to a paedophile hunter, believing they were a 10-year-old girl, has been jailed.

Peter Atwood met 'Poppy' on a chatroom and moved the conversation to WhatsApp.

Over the course of the conversation he built a rapport and chatted about 'benign' subjects.

However he also told her she was 'cute' and asked if she was wearing her pyjamas or dressing gown.

the 37-year-old asked for photos and made sexual comments.

He also instructed her to perform sexual acts on herself - after she told him she was 10.

Atwood also chatted sexually to another decoy, who was posing as 'Lily', 13.

On November 5, 2025, Atwood was confronted in a live sting at his house in Blackpool.

Around 50 people carried placards reading 'Keep Our Kids Safe'.

Atwood, of Linwood Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual communication with a child and attempting to incite a child into sexual activity.

Sentencing, Recorder Michelle Brown said: "You deny sexual gratification.

That is clearly against the evidence of what you said to the children." "You describe the reason for your offending as going through a difficult time in your relationship but there is nothing that warrants a significant reduction from the starting point." The court heard since his arrest, Atwood has completed a course with the Lucy Faithful Foundation to address the causes of his offending.

Recorder Brown sentenced him to five years and three months in prison.
