THOMAS MAXWELL ESCAPES JAIL IN ALLOA AND HARRIS FOR SEX OFFENCES
In a decision that has sparked widespread outrage, Thomas Maxwell, a 60-year-old man with a long-standing association with the Jehovah’s Witnesses, has avoided imprisonment despite being convicted of serious sexual offences.
The case, which has garnered significant public attention, took place in Alloa and Harris, with Maxwell now residing in the remote community of Leverburgh on the island of Harris.
Maxwell was sentenced at Alloa Sheriff Court to three years of probation and was ordered to complete 240 hours of community service.
Additionally, his name will be entered into the sex offenders’ register, a measure intended to monitor his activities and protect the community.
The court's decision not to impose a custodial sentence was influenced by Maxwell's voluntary exile to a secluded part of the Western Isles, specifically Harris, where he currently lives.
