DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE
A violent individual who subjected his young wife to terrifying abuse has been sentenced after causing severe injuries, including multiple facial fractures.The court heard how Theo McLean repeatedly punched his partner, threw her down the stairs, and engaged in degrading and controlling behavior, which culminated in a campaign of terror.
The victim was eventually forced to flee her home half-naked and sought help from a delivery driver who took her to the police station.
Prosecutors described how McLean's actions included punching her, throwing her down the stairs, slashing her leg with scissors, urinating on her, and refusing to allow her to change clothes.
The victim suffered from a small bleed on her brain and multiple facial fractures.
McLean, who is currently imprisoned at HMP Holme House, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and controlling and coercive behavior.
The judge sentenced him to six years and nine months in prison, with an additional two years on license, highlighting his jealous and insecure motives and domineering attitude.
The court judge remarked that McLean's behavior demonstrated a lack of respect and a need for control, contrasting his cowardice with the dignity and courage shown by the victim in court.
A restraining order was also issued to protect the victim from further harm.
