DARLINGTON MAN WHO ADMITS CHILD ABUSE IMAGES CHARGES TO BE SENTENCED
A man is scheduled to be sentenced next month after admitting to six charges related to possessing images of child sexual abuse.Ashley Robinson, aged 35, pleaded guilty in January to three counts of creating (downloading) indecent images of children.
These charges involve a total of 12 images, five of which are classified in the most severe category, all recorded on September 7 of the previous year.
After further investigation of devices confiscated from him in September, three additional charges were brought against Robinson.
These involve the creation of 47 more indecent images, 31 of which are in the highest category, created between January 20 and September 8, 2025.
Robinson admitted to these charges earlier this month during a court hearing.
He, of Marburn Place, Darlington, appeared for sentencing via video link from Holme House Prison in Stockton at Durham Crown Court.
Judge Nathan Adams asked whether there was a detailed breakdown of the ages of the children depicted in the images.
When informed that such specifics were not available, the judge noted that it would be difficult to proceed with sentencing without that information.
Robinson’s legal representative explained that they were waiting for this data, which was not due to any fault of his.
The judge indicated that the court should receive the information within a week or two, as it should already be in police hands.
Because of the absence of detailed details, the judge postponed the sentencing to next month and remanded Robinson in custody until the rescheduled hearing on July 2.
