NAIL TECHNICIAN ASSAULTED BY THAN VAN NGUYEN IN DUNFERMLINE BEAUTY SALON
In Dunfermline, a punch and kick attack occurred at the Five Star Nails salon on Bruce Street on a Saturday afternoon at approximately 2:30pm, with customers present. The victim, Linh Khanh Phan, a nail technician, was assaulted by her partner, Than Van Nguyen, aged 30 and residing on Burns Street. Nguyen confessed in court that he punched Phan in the head and kicked her in the body during the incident. Deputy Fiscal Azrah Yousaf stated that the couple lives together and both work at the salon. Court proceedings revealed that the argument started in their native language and escalated when Van Nguyen lunged at Phan, striking her and later kicking her on the back, which caused her to fall onto a nearby sofa. A customer witnessed the assault and contacted the police. Through his solicitor James Moncrieff, Van Nguyen expressed remorse, explaining that he and Phan, who have two children and limited English skills, were working at the salon that day. He admitted to losing his temper during a heated argument but noted that his partner did not contact authorities afterward. Describing himself as very remorseful and upset about his conduct, Van Nguyen acknowledged that his actions were completely unacceptable. Sheriff Richard McFarlane deferred the sentence for three months to allow Van Nguyen to demonstrate good behaviour, with a follow-up court date set for October 26.
