DONCASTER MAN TERRY BEARDMORE SEXUALLY ASSAULTS 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND TRIES TO BRIBE HER
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Doncaster, a man named Terry Beardmore was convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and attempting to manipulate her through bribery.The incident, which took place in October 2018, was brought to light during a court hearing at Sheffield Crown Court, revealing a pattern of inappropriate behavior that spanned several weeks.
According to prosecutor Matthew Bean, Beardmore, who was 59 years old at the time, would often walk his dog past the girl’s house in Doncaster, during which he would send her text messages.
These messages appeared to be part of a troubling attempt to establish some form of relationship with the young girl.
The court heard that Beardmore’s interactions escalated to physical contact when he kissed and cuddled her, and inappropriately touched her by placing her hands on his bottom.
Additionally, he pulled up her jumper to expose her bra, an act that left the girl visibly distressed.
The girl, who was only 12 years old, tried to resist his advances by placing her hands on her jumper to prevent further contact.
She also told him “no” when he asked if he could have a look at her.
Despite her protests, Beardmore continued to kiss her and warned her that she would be in trouble if she told anyone about what had happened.
In an attempt to silence her, he offered her five pounds and instructed her to keep the money in her bra, a clear effort to bribe her into silence.
Following the assault, the girl was left upset and crying, and her emotional distress impacted her schoolwork.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, she reported the incident to authorities.
Beardmore was arrested the following day.
During police interviews, he denied that any of his actions were sexual in nature, though he did admit that they were “a bit inappropriate” and apologized for his behavior.
Judge Roger Thomas QC addressed Beardmore’s conduct, emphasizing that he had developed a troubling “relationship” with the girl in the weeks leading up to the assault.
The judge pointed out that Beardmore’s method of communication included texting her as he walked his dog past her house, noting that the girl liked his dog and that young girls often have an affinity for animals.
The judge highlighted the predatory nature of Beardmore’s actions, stating that the girl was aware that his behavior was wrong and had confided in someone about it.
The court also condemned Beardmore’s attempt to bribe her with money, describing it as an effort to silence her.
On March 16, during his trial, Beardmore pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault of a child.
The court sentenced him to ten months in prison and imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his future conduct.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable young individuals from predatory behavior, especially in communities like Doncaster where such incidents can have lasting impacts.
