Jan 2010 Pervert hoarding thousands of child porn images avoids jail A PERVERT has avoided jail after he was caught with thousands of images of child pornography. Terence Snooks, 47, was arrested after his ex-girlfriend discovered the photographs on a computer she had leant him. She went to the police and other computers containing child porn were seized during raids at a home Snooks owned in Leigh. He pleaded guilty to possessing the images at an earlier hearing. Judge Christopher Mitchell, told Snooks at Basildon Crown Court: “You pleaded guilty to possessing quite a large quantity of child pornography. “Having considered the guidelines, I have come to the conclusion it does pass the custody threshold. “But, bearing in mind your previous good character, I can suspend the sentence.” More than 3,000 images were at the lowest level one, but there were 145 at level four and 12 at level five, the highest. Snooks, of Manor Park, East London, was given a 26-week sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and also to pay £600 costs by July 1. He will also be on the sex offenders register for seven years.
