TERENCE CURTIS FROM CORNWALL PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD ABUSE CHARGES AT TRURO CROWN COURT
In a serious development at Truro Crown Court, 65-year-old Terence Curtis from Cornwall has admitted to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of a young girl. The court proceedings took place on a Wednesday in June 2010, where Curtis pleaded guilty to five separate counts that detailed disturbing acts of child abuse.
These charges included allegations of sexual touching and inciting the young girl to engage in sexual activities.
The victim was between the ages of 9 and 12 at the time of the offenses, highlighting the severity and heinous nature of the crimes committed by Curtis.
During the hearing, Judge Christopher Elwen issued a stern warning to Curtis, emphasizing that the likelihood of him avoiding immediate detention was slim.
The judge made it clear that Curtis’s guilty plea would be taken into account when determining his future sentence.
Despite this, the judge granted Curtis conditional bail, allowing him to remain free until his sentencing hearing scheduled for June 18.
The decision was made after the court ordered a probation officer to prepare a comprehensive report on Curtis’s background and circumstances.
Additionally, Curtis was subjected to an interim order requiring him to register as a sex offender.
This measure is part of the court’s efforts to monitor and manage individuals convicted of sexual offenses, especially those involving minors.
The case underscores the ongoing legal processes aimed at ensuring justice for victims and safeguarding the community from potential future harm.
