SERIAL WOMAN-BEATER LIAM MARSHALL JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACKS
Liam Marshall, a 30-year-old man now residing in Stoke-on-Trent but formerly from Camborne, was convicted of two serious assaults on his former partners. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard that in December 2020, Marshall confronted his first victim at a property where they were drinking, accusing her of speaking to other men through messages.
He became verbally abusive and threatened her with a frying pan filled with hot oil.
He then physically assaulted her by grabbing her by the throat and pushing her against a wall, and later throwing her to the ground, causing her to hit her head and sustain a laceration.
Marshall was released under investigation but later, in February 2021, he was involved in another incident in St Ives.
During this incident, he was with the mother of his child at a friend's house when he became agitated and stormed out.
He was followed by his victim, leading to a street confrontation where they exchanged words.
During a struggle, Marshall assaulted her while she was lying on the street, which resulted in her losing consciousness.
She suffered nerve damage to her face and severe anxiety as a result.
The court acknowledged Marshall’s prior convictions for violence against women.
His legal representative, Robin Smith, stated that Marshall was aware of his situation and acknowledged his previous convictions.
Judge Simon Carr sentenced him to 30 months in jail and imposed restraining orders to protect the victims.
The judge remarked that Marshall had a history of violence against women and that his actions, including choking and striking the second victim despite her being unthreatening, were reprehensible.
