BROADCASTER TELLY CURDY ON TRIAL FOR GIRL RAPE
Prosecutors have accused broadcaster Telly Curdy of raping a 12-year-old girl, as the jury was told. The case was presented at the High Court in Glasgow and involves allegations that Curdy, aged 67 from Ayr, raped the girl three times.
The alleged victim, now 19, reported that during each incident, Curdy whispered threateningly, "If you tell anyone, I will kill you and your mum." The girl described in detail how the assault occurred, with the prosecutor Liam Ewing urging the jury to find Curdy guilty, stating, "You have heard how the girl described screaming as he raped her.
I ask you to examine the evidence." The defense lawyer Lorenzo Alonzi argued there was no independent evidence and asked for an acquittal.
Curdy denies the charges.
The prosecution relied heavily on the testimony of the girl's mother, aged 47, to support the case.
The trial is ongoing.
