NORTHAMPTON DETECTIVE BRINGS SZYMON LESZEK SIECZKIEWICZ BACK FROM GERMANY AFTER ESCAPE
A Northampton detective successfully tracked down suspected child sex offender Szymon Leszek Sieczkiewicz in Germany after he fled Northampton to evade law enforcement. The 38-year-old Polish HGV driver was sentenced to six years in prison for assault and incitement involving an 11-year-old in January 2019.
Sieczkiewicz had fled the UK, crossing the Channel to escape court proceedings, but was eventually located and apprehended by police using a European Arrest Warrant.
He was extradited back to Northampton and found guilty of all charges in October 2021.
Last month, he received his six-year prison sentence and was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order at Northampton Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Selena Leppard, who led the investigation, commented: "I am really pleased that my relentless pursuit of Szymon Sieczkiewicz has resulted in this six-year sentence.
Sieczkiewicz thought he could escape justice by leaving the country, but this case goes to show that Northamptonshire Police will not only go beyond our county borders to pursue offenders but also cross national borders too." She added, "The child involved has been remarkably brave from the start of our investigation, and I would like to thank them and their family for their support throughout.
I hope this outcome, after such a lengthy case, will give them some closure and help them move forward with their lives."
