SUKHPAL SIDHU FROM YORKSHIRE SENTENCED FOR DEVIANT ONLINE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A disturbing case involving a middle-aged man from Yorkshire, Sukhpal Sidhu, has come to light, revealing his sinister attempts to groom a young girl online. The 51-year-old, who has a prior conviction for similar offenses, was recently sentenced to an extended six-year prison term at Leeds Crown Court after being found guilty of engaging in highly manipulative and dangerous online behavior.
According to court reports, the incident took place in November of the previous year, just a few months after Sidhu was released from prison.
During this period, he reached out to a profile on social media, which he believed belonged to a teenage girl.
Unbeknownst to him, the profile was actually a decoy operated by an online paedophile hunter group aiming to catch offenders like him.
Despite this, Sidhu accepted a friend request from the profile and began a series of conversations that quickly turned inappropriate.
Throughout the exchanges, Sidhu repeatedly referred to the girl as being only 13 years old.
He falsely claimed to be a businessman involved in charitable work to help feed the homeless, attempting to present himself as a respectable individual.
However, he soon shifted the tone of their conversations to sexual topics, boasting about women being attracted to his voice and making suggestive remarks.
He also shared a decoy photograph of himself, calling the girl “beautiful” and engaging in increasingly explicit dialogue.
In a bizarre turn, Sidhu pretended to be a 14-year-old girl who had access to his account, further escalating the sexual nature of their interactions.
Prosecutor Joel Wootten detailed how Sidhu encouraged the decoy to touch herself sexually, demonstrating a clear intent to incite illegal activity involving a minor.
The online group, known as C.O.S.T (Child Online Safety Team), monitored the situation for a week, exchanging messages with Sidhu before livestreaming their conversation on the internet.
During the recording, Sidhu denied any wrongdoing, maintaining his innocence despite the evidence against him.
Following the livestream, law enforcement authorities were alerted, leading to his immediate arrest.
Sidhu’s criminal history includes an eight-year prison sentence handed down in 2015 for engaging in sexual activity with a teenage girl in Greater Manchester.
During that earlier case, he had posed as a teenage boy to gain her trust and had traveled across the Pennines from West Yorkshire to meet her for sexual encounters in his car.
Although he denied the allegations at the time, he was convicted after a trial and was subsequently subjected to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) that restricted his internet use and mandated his registration as a sex offender for life.
In the current case, Sidhu, residing on Bradford Road, Stanningley, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to communicate sexually with a child, breaching his SHPO, and attempting to breach his SHPO.
He appeared in court via video link from HMP Leeds, where he has been held on remand since his arrest.
The court heard that Sidhu accepted the likelihood of a custodial sentence, but little else was offered in his defense.
Judge Recorder Ian Mullarkey delivered a stern verdict, condemning Sidhu’s actions as devious, manipulative, and highly calculated.
He emphasized that the offender’s use of a fictitious profile to engage a young girl in graphic sexual conversations demonstrated a sophisticated and determined effort to commit serious offenses against children.
The judge noted Sidhu’s lack of remorse and his failure to recognize the harm caused by his actions.
Furthermore, Sidhu refused to participate in a sex offender rehabilitation program, which could have been a step toward addressing his behavior.
As a result, the judge sentenced Sidhu to three years in prison, with an additional three years on extended license, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
