STEWART THOMSON AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX ABUSE IN WREXHAM AND SHROPSHIRE
A dangerous sexual predator responsible for appalling crimes against a young girl has been officially incarcerated.Stewart Thomson, a 40-year-old man, was convicted of multiple serious offenses involving the sexual abuse of a minor girl in the Oswestry area of Shropshire.
The disturbing series of events took place over a span of nearly a year, from April 2019 until February 2020, during which Thomson targeted the girl and engaged in unlawful sexual activities.
The court proceedings revealed that Thomson was found guilty of six counts related to his sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
In addition to these convictions, he pleaded guilty to two separate charges involving the creation and making of indecent photographs of a child.
These allegations underscore the severity of his offenses and the extent of his misconduct.
The case was prosecuted with the cooperation of police authorities, and their representatives publicly expressed satisfaction with the jury’s verdict and the subsequent sentencing.
Detective Sergeant Alice Davies, from the reactive CID at West Mercia Police, articulated her views on the case, emphasizing the importance of the conviction in providing justice for the young victim.
She stated, “We are really pleased with the jury’s verdict and the sentence that has been given to Thomson, meaning that he will now face the consequences of his disturbing crimes against a vulnerable young girl.
We take all forms of child abuse incredibly seriously and I hope this result shows the effort we put into making sure children in our community are safe from sexual predators.” Thomson, who resides at Abbeygate Walk, Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday, March 13.
As part of his punishment, he has been placed on the sex offenders register and has been issued a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his conduct to prevent future harm.
The sentencing signifies a firm stance by the justice system against those who commit such heinous acts, reaffirming its commitment to protecting children and ensuring offenders are held accountable.
