STANLEY AND STEVEN MUCHEMWA SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE IN BOLTON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bolton, twin brothers Steven and Stanley Muchemwa, aged 31, have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms following their conviction for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against an 11-year-old girl.The sentencing took place at Bolton Crown Court, where the judge described the abuse as "particularly shocking," reflecting the severity and depravity of their actions.
According to court records, the offenses occurred at the Muchemwa brothers' residence on Dunsop Drive in Bolton.
It was at this address that both men engaged in repeated acts of sexual assault and rape against the young girl over a span of several months.
The assaults predominantly took place in their bedroom, with some incidents occurring while other children were sleeping in the same room, adding a layer of disturbing complexity to the case.
The girl’s mother, during the trial, expressed her devastation and heartbreak upon learning of her daughter's ordeal.
She told Judge Graeme Smith that her world had "come crashing down around her" when she discovered what had been happening.
She described feeling "completely shocked" after her daughter confided in her about the abuse, which she had initially disclosed to her head teacher at school.
The mother also expressed her anguish over the betrayal of trust, as she had believed the brothers to be responsible caregivers.
Since the revelations, the mother noted a significant change in her daughter's behavior.
The girl has become increasingly clingy and has been suffering from disturbed sleep, often waking from nightmares.
The court was also informed that Steven Muchemwa first began touching the girl in early 2016, when she was just 10 years old.
The abuse escalated during the summer holidays after she turned 11, with both brothers participating in the assaults.
During the trial, the girl recounted that her brother Stanley had entered the room during her initial assault by Steven but did not intervene or stop the act.
Both brothers initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, Steven later changed his plea to guilty before the trial commenced.
Prosecutor Kathryn Johnson outlined the disturbing details, stating that Stanley had witnessed his brother's actions and subsequently began to rape the girl himself.
She added that Stanley had told the girl he was "teaching her what to do for when she had a boyfriend," a comment that underscored the manipulative and abusive nature of his conduct.

Johnson further revealed that Stanley had warned the girl she would get into trouble if she told anyone about the abuse.
The girl eventually confided in her head teacher in October 2016, an act that Judge Smith described as "brave." The teacher found the girl in an "extremely distressed state" and, upon questioning, the girl disclosed her abuse.
Following this, police and social services were involved, and her mother was contacted to provide support.
After a thorough trial earlier this year, Stanley Muchemwa was convicted on one count of sexual assault of a child under 13 and four counts of rape of a child under 13.
Steven Muchemwa was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and seven counts of rape, both involving a girl under 13.
Additionally, Steven was convicted of one count of assault on a female and another of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The sentences handed down reflect the gravity of their crimes and the profound impact on the young victim, as the court seeks justice for the heinous acts committed in Bolton.
