In a recent case heard at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Steven Whiteside, a 50-year-old resident of Millbank Row in Dreghorn, faced legal consequences for failing to adhere to the strict notification requirements mandated by the Sexual Offenders Act.The incident dates back to a period between September 3 and September 8 of the previous year, during which Whiteside did not fulfill his legal obligation to update authorities about his status as a registered sex offender.
Whiteside appeared before the court last week, where he entered a guilty plea to the charge of non-compliance.
The court found that he had neglected to complete his annual notification at Irvine Police Station, a requirement that is crucial for monitoring and managing individuals convicted of sexual offenses.
This failure was deemed to be without any reasonable excuse, highlighting a breach of the legal responsibilities imposed on registered offenders.
As a consequence of his actions, the court ordered Whiteside to pay a fine of £259.
