A man known as Steven Walker has been condemned for a violent and abhorrent assault that has left a lasting impact on his victim.Walker, aged 43, was sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of heinous sexual crimes committed in Birmingham.
According to reports, the incident involved the victim waking up in an unfamiliar apartment in Birmingham, completely naked and distressed to find that she was being sexually assaulted by Walker.
The woman had no recollection of the events that led to her waking up in that situation.
The timeline of the incident remains unclear to her, as she could not remember the immediate moments from the time she left a pub to the point she regained consciousness.
The authorities were alerted to the case after the victim’s friends urged her to contact the police, concerned about her well-being.
It was through their encouragement and subsequent police investigation that Walker was apprehended.
The West Midlands Police managed to gather crucial evidence, including CCTV footage that captured Walker leading the woman out of a pub on a Saturday night in November 2019.
This footage played a vital role in establishing his involvement.
Following his arrest, Walker was taken into custody at his residence on Quinton Lane in Birmingham.
During police questioning, he admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the woman throughout that night, confirming the allegations against him.
Walker’s trial took place at Birmingham Crown Court, where the evidence and testimonies culminated in a guilty verdict.
As a result, he was sentenced last month to nine years and six months in prison for three counts of rape.
In addition to his jail term, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure intended to protect the community.
The West Midlands Police expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing that justice had been served against what they described as a dangerous predator.
