NORTHAMPTON MAN STEVEN ROSS EXPOSES HIMSELF AT KETTERING RAILWAY STATION
In April 2021, a disturbing incident occurred at Kettering railway station involving a man from Northampton named Steven Ross.The incident took place on the platform as a lone woman was waiting for her train, leading to serious legal consequences for Ross.
Steven Ross, aged 26 and residing on St.
Peters Street in Northampton, appeared before Leicestershire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 6.
The court found him guilty of two serious charges: public exposure and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place.
As a result, Ross was sentenced to a total of 16 weeks in prison, with six weeks allocated for the exposure offense and an additional 10 weeks for possessing a bladed article.
Furthermore, the court ordered Ross to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, reflecting the gravity of his actions.
The incident unfolded on the evening of March 30 at approximately 6:20 pm.
A 23-year-old woman was on a train that was scheduled to terminate at Kettering station.
While waiting on the platform for her connecting train, she noticed Ross sitting alone on a bench nearby.
After a few minutes, she turned around and was shocked to see Ross with his trousers and underwear pulled down, engaging in inappropriate touching of himself while staring directly at her.
The woman was understandably distressed by this behavior and quickly moved away from Ross, walking down the platform to distance herself from him.
Realizing the severity of the situation, the woman contacted a friend for advice, who urged her to call the police immediately.
She then approached two members of railway staff to report what she had witnessed.
Recognizing the potential danger, one of the staff members escorted her onto a train to ensure her safety.
The incident was reported to authorities, and the woman’s account was taken seriously by the station personnel.
Subsequently, on Monday, April 5, Ross was spotted by station staff boarding a train at Kettering station.
Recognizing him from the previous incident, the staff promptly notified the British Transport Police (BTP).
Officers from the BTP met the train in Leicester and arrested Ross in connection with the earlier offense.
During his arrest, police discovered Ross in possession of a kitchen knife, which led to additional charges related to possession of a bladed weapon.
Ross was taken into custody and remains under investigation for his actions at Kettering station, which have caused significant concern and distress in the community.
