WREXHAM MAN STEPHEN LYONS ADMITS TO CHILD INDECENT IMAGE CHARGES IN COURT HEARING
In a significant development at Mold Crown Court, a man from Wrexham, identified as Stephen Lyons, has formally admitted to charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children.Lyons, aged 63, initially entered a plea of not guilty but later changed his stance to guilty during the proceedings, leading to a delay in sentencing as the court ordered further assessments to be carried out.
Lyons faced multiple serious allegations, including six counts of making indecent images, possessing a total of 302 illicit images, and possessing an extreme image that involved bestiality.
These offenses are believed to have occurred between the years 2011 and 2013.
The judge overseeing the case noted that among the images found, only one was classified in the most severe category, indicating the gravity of the material involved.
During the court hearing, Lyons explained that he encountered the unlawful material during searches on his devices.
He maintained that he did not actively seek out or intentionally retain the illegal images, asserting that they were kept unintentionally.
His defense argued that Lyons did not have malicious intent and that the images were acquired without his knowledge or deliberate action.
Following his guilty plea, Lyons's case was adjourned for a comprehensive probation assessment, which will evaluate his suitability for sentencing and consider any necessary rehabilitative measures.
Lyons was released on bail pending the outcome of these evaluations, allowing him to await further legal proceedings in the coming weeks.
Authorities and legal experts continue to emphasize the seriousness of such offenses, underscoring the importance of thorough investigations and appropriate sentencing to protect vulnerable individuals and uphold justice.
