STEPHEN LEE FROM BRADFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND CHATROOM OFFENCES
In January 2019, a disturbing case involving a Bradford man named Stephen Lee came to light, revealing a pattern of heinous online behavior and possession of indecent images of children.Lee, a 45-year-old resident of Lynton Drive, off Toller Lane in Bradford, was found guilty of engaging in online conversations that involved disturbing requests and sharing of child abuse material.
According to police reports, Lee had been actively involved in chatrooms where he solicited other men, asking if they would like to abuse a baby.
This chilling inquiry was part of a broader pattern of his disturbing online activity.
When authorities conducted a search of his home, they discovered a total of 111 indecent images of children stored on his devices.
Among these, 23 were classified as the most severe category, depicting children being subjected to abuse.
These findings underscored the severity of his offending and the danger he posed.
Lee’s criminal history included previous attempts at rehabilitation.
In 2013, he was subjected to a community order aimed at curbing his deviant behavior.
Despite this intervention, he failed to alter his conduct and was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison in August 2015.
After serving his sentence, Lee was released on licence but continued to offend.
Between May 6 and July 13 of 2017, he engaged in online activities that involved logging onto chatrooms to receive and view illicit images of children.
His activities did not go unnoticed for long.
Police received credible tips about his online behavior, leading to his arrest at his home in Cheapside, Bradford.
During questioning, Lee attempted to downplay his actions, telling officers, “It’s like an addiction.
It’s like role play.
I’m not fussed about the images I wouldn’t touch anyone.” His words reflected a disturbing detachment from the gravity of his crimes.
At Bradford Crown Court, Lee faced multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of distributing an image, possession of a prohibited image of a child, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
His plea of guilty to these charges resulted in a significant sentence.
His Honour Judge Jonathan Rose sentenced him to three years in prison, emphasizing the depraved nature of his offenses.
The judge remarked on the troubling fact that Lee had completed a sex offender’s treatment programme during his previous sentence, yet continued to offend, highlighting the persistent danger he posed.
In a rare move, Lee addressed the court after sentencing and before his removal to prison.
He expressed remorse and a commitment to change, stating, “I realise the sentence you have given me and I will work hard in the prison system and outside the prison system, so I don’t re-offend and I realise the whole spectrum of my offending.
I will make sure I work doubly hard so I don’t re-appear at court in this nature.” His words reflected a recognition of the seriousness of his crimes and a desire to avoid further legal consequences, though the court’s decision underscored the gravity of his actions and the ongoing threat he represents.
