STEPHEN FOYSTER'S HORRIFIC SEX OFFENSES IN NEWARK AND NEARBY ARENA
In December 2017, a disturbing case unfolded at Nottingham Crown Court involving Stephen Foyster, a man from Worksop Road, Perlethorpe-cum-Budby, near Newark. The court heard how Foyster, now aged 53, had carried out a prolonged and systematic series of sexual offenses against three young girls over a span of eight years, constituting what the judge described as "a campaign over a sustained period of time."Judge Rosalind Coe QC sentenced Foyster to a total of 13 years in prison, emphasizing the severity and duration of his crimes. As part of his punishment, Foyster was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for life and to adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for the next ten years. The court was told that Foyster had pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecent assault and five charges of indecency with a child, reflecting the gravity of his actions.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the victims, who are protected by anonymity, had been subjected to Foyster’s abuse from the age of five. One of the victims recounted that she remembered a sexual incident occurring when she was just five years old. The most recent incident was when she was 11, during which Foyster performed a sexual act in front of her near a pond. Extracts from her victim impact statement were read aloud in court, with prosecutor Mark Knowles describing her feelings as "an awful experience and it should never have happened."
Of the 12 offenses Foyster committed, four involved indecent assaults on the first girl, along with one charge of indecency with a child. The second girl provided a brief statement to police, confirming that Foyster had sexually abused her on two occasions, including two counts of indecency with a child. Foyster also admitted to exposing himself in front of a third girl, who was the subject of two indecency with a child charges and one indecent assault.
It was also disclosed that Foyster had a prior conviction for indecent exposure dating back to May 2000, when he exposed himself to a ten-year-old boy and an eleven-year-old boy, and performed a sexual act in front of them. This history underscores a pattern of predatory behavior that has spanned many years and highlights the ongoing threat he poses to the community in Newark and surrounding areas.
