STEPHEN DEVLIN SENTENCED IN BLACKPOOL FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRLS
In March 2014, Stephen Devlin, a 19-year-old from Read’s Avenue in central Blackpool, was sentenced after pleadings related to sexual activities with two 13-year-old girls.Devlin admitted to five charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child, four of which involved one of the victims.
At the time of the offenses, he was 18 years old, while both victims were just 13.
A judge at Preston Crown Court sentenced Devlin to five years in prison, with an extended four-year license period to follow.
He will also be registered as a sex offender indefinitely and will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order.
Prosecutor Nick Kennedy explained that the allegations arose after one of the victims confided in a social worker involved in the joint police and social care team called Awaken.
John Woodward, defending Devlin, stated that he had made a terrible mistake and was remorseful, emphasizing that Devlin was immature at the time.
Judge Pamela Badley addressed the court, saying: “It appears the case you took advantage of the naivety of these girls.
You were able to present yourself in a romantic light.
However, it is quite clear they were utterly mistaken.”
