STEPHEN AINSCOW FROM BOLTON AND WARRINGTON RE-ARRESTED AFTER ESCAPE

In a significant development in a long-standing case, Stephen Ainscow, a man with a troubling criminal history, has been located and taken into custody after a period of being at large. Ainscow, who has connections to both Bolton and Warrington, was previously convicted of heinous crimes involving the abduction and assault of a young girl. His recent reappearance has reignited concerns among local communities and law enforcement agencies alike.

Back in July 2010, Ainscow made headlines when he voluntarily surrendered to police authorities. His criminal record includes a particularly disturbing incident from December 4, 2004, in Waterfoot, Rossendale, where he sexually assaulted a disabled woman. The assault was part of a series of violent acts committed by Ainscow, who at the time was 28 years old. His actions that night were brutal and calculated, culminating in him dragging a 14-year-old girl into nearby woodland, where he raped her twice. During the assault, Ainscow reportedly used forceful methods, including pushing his fingers down her throat to silence her screams.

The young girl was fortunate to be rescued thanks to the quick thinking of a 17-year-old student who heard her cries for help. The student, along with his stepfather, responded promptly and found her lying in the mud, half-naked, visibly distressed, and in shock. This brave intervention prevented further harm and brought attention to Ainscow's violent tendencies.

Following his arrest, Ainscow was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison in 2005. However, he was released in March after serving only four years of his sentence. His release was short-lived, as he subsequently went missing, breaching the conditions of his parole. His absence caused widespread concern, especially among his victims and the local communities of Bolton and Warrington, where he was known to have ties.

One of the victims expressed her ongoing fear, stating she was too terrified to leave her home because Ainscow was still at large. Law enforcement agencies launched an extensive search, visiting multiple addresses in Bradshaw and Glossop in an effort to locate him. Despite these efforts, Ainscow remained elusive until he decided to surrender himself to police in Warrington earlier today.

His voluntary surrender has led to his return to custody, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice is served and to safeguarding the communities from individuals with a history of violent crimes. The case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in preventing further tragedies.
