March 2017 Grantham man admits watching child abuse images when police visit home A Grantham man has admitted watching child sexual abuse images after approaching women on the streets of the town. Bulgarian Stefan Krastev, 26, admitted to doing “bad things” after going up to complete strangers, Lincoln Crown Court heard. The court was told one woman heard Krastev say he needed to “apologize to all women, and all children.” Police were called and took Krastev home because they were concerned about his welfare. While outside his house Krastev was “visibly distressed” and confessed to viewing child abuse images Police searched his home and seized a mobile phone. When it was analysed it was found to have viewed 198 indecent images of young children. They included 126 in the most serious category of A, 63 at level B and nine at level C. A child’s doll and a notebook with reference to the “dark web” were also found by police. Krastev, formerly of Grantley Street, Grantham, admitted three charges of making indecent images following his arrest on 13 September. He was sentenced to a 12 month community order and a five year sexual harm prevention order. He must also register as a sex offender for five years and was banned from working with children. Passing sentence Judge Michael Heath said Krastev had already served the appropriate prison sentence. Judge Heath added: “How these matters came to light is unusual and odd.”
