SHOHAIB MUMTAZ LEEDS PERVERT SENTENCED FOR ABUSING TEENAGE GIRLS AND CAUSING PREGNANCY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leeds, Shohaib Mumtaz, aged 24, has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving underage girls. The crimes, which spanned over a period of time, included sexual activities with minors and culminated in the tragic incident where Mumtaz impregnated a 13-year-old girl.
The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court, where Mumtaz was found guilty of five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to three other charges related to sexual activity with a minor and one count of causing a child to observe sexual acts.
The court heard that Mumtaz, who resided on Westcombe Avenue in the Roundhay area of Leeds, was 22 years old at the time he impregnated the young girl.
The teenage girl, whose pregnancy was eventually terminated after confiding in her parents, was subjected to ongoing abuse by Mumtaz.
Despite the termination, Mumtaz continued to meet with her and maintain a sexual relationship, demonstrating a blatant disregard for her well-being and safety.
The court also learned that Mumtaz’s misconduct extended beyond this victim, as he committed offences against two other teenage girls.
One of these victims was coerced into watching Mumtaz perform a sexual act via webcam, while the other was subjected to inappropriate touching.
The court revealed that Mumtaz’s criminal behaviour persisted even after his arrest and subsequent release on bail, highlighting his continued disregard for the law and the victims’ suffering.
All three victims were compelled to relive their traumatic experiences during the trial, providing evidence that was crucial in securing Mumtaz’s conviction.
The teenage girl who became pregnant described how Mumtaz treated her as if she were a “chattel,” emphasizing the severity of his exploitation.
In addition to his prison sentence, Mumtaz was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure intended to protect the community from further harm.
Judge Rodney Jameson, QC, emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, “The aggravating feature is (the victim’s) pregnancy.
To make a 13-year-old child pregnant is a terribly, terribly serious crime.” Detective Chief Inspector Mark Griffin of the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit expressed his condemnation of Mumtaz’s actions, condemning him for showing utter contempt for vulnerable children.
He praised the efforts of specialist safeguarding officers who worked tirelessly to support the victims and gather the evidence necessary for conviction.
Griffin also commended the bravery of the victims for their courage in giving evidence during the trial.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors and the serious consequences faced by those who exploit them.
The community of Leeds can now feel reassured that justice has been served in this disturbing case.
