SHAUN MORLEY FROM BOURNEMOUTH JAILED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD PORNOGRAPHY VIDEOS

In May 2004, a man from Bournemouth was sentenced to a year in prison after being found guilty of possessing and downloading extremely disturbing indecent images and videos of children. Shaun Morley, aged 30 and residing on Baker Road in Bournemouth, faced serious charges related to the creation and distribution of child exploitation material.

Morley pleaded guilty to 15 counts of making indecent images of children. These counts encompassed a total of 48 images, which were classified across various levels of severity on a five-tier scale used by the court. In addition to these charges, Morley requested that the court consider 43 other similar offences, indicating a pattern of offending behavior.

The Bournemouth Crown Court was informed that among the images seized from Morley's computer, 17 were categorized as less severe, falling into the lower levels of the scale. The remaining images were classified into more serious categories, specifically categories three and four, with one image deemed to be in the most severe category. The judge described the content as 'horrific,' emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material involved.

Morley's arrest took place at his residence on May 1 of the previous year. During the police raid, officers confiscated his computer and subsequently questioned him. In police interviews, Morley admitted to downloading indecent images, confirming his involvement in the possession of such material.

Throughout the court proceedings, Morley's defense attorney, Kate Lumsdon, requested leniency, advocating for a rehabilitation program instead of immediate imprisonment. She argued that Morley was an unusual individual with no sexual experience and was notably naive. Lumsdon expressed concern that sending him to an adult prison would be detrimental, stating, 'He is very unusual. He has no sexual experience and is exceptionally naive and a man like that who goes to an adult prison is going to have the most dreadful time and it is not going to teach him anything.' She also highlighted Morley's lack of understanding regarding the illegality of his actions and the potential harm caused by the production of such images.

However, Judge Samuel Wiggs sentenced Morley to a total of 12 months in prison. In his remarks, the judge condemned the offences as 'serious' and 'horrific,' underscoring the repulsive nature of downloading images of children from the internet. The judge expressed concern about the impact on the victims involved in the original creation of these images, stating, 'They really are extremely unpleasant. One shudders to think the effect that must have had on these children who were involved in the making of these images in the first place.'

In addition to his prison sentence, Morley was prohibited from working with children in any capacity and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk to the community.
