NOURREDINE SED'S SHOCKING CRIME IN BOURNEMOUTH: GROPED 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL ON WIMBORNE ROAD

In June 2014, a disturbing incident involving Nourredine Sed, a 38-year-old man residing in Bournemouth, came to light through a court case that highlighted the serious nature of his actions. The incident took place on Wimborne Road, Winton, and has left a lasting impact on the young victim and her family.

According to court reports, Sed was found guilty of approaching an 11-year-old girl as she was walking home from school. The girl recounted to police that Sed had approached her while riding his bike along Wimborne Road. During the police interview, she described Sed’s words as, “I’ve seen you, I think you’re beautiful and I like you.”

The court was told that after Sed made this remark, he asked the girl for a kiss. The girl responded with a firm “no,” but Sed did not desist. Instead, he put his arm around her and attempted to kiss her. The young girl tried to pull away from his grasp, but Sed managed to kiss her and, alarmingly, touched her bottom. This act of assault caused significant distress to the young victim, who was on the cusp of adolescence.

Following the incident, authorities launched a thorough police investigation. A media appeal was issued to locate Sed, who was identified as an Algerian national legally residing in the UK through his marriage to an EU national and a UK citizen. Sed was subsequently arrested and taken in for questioning. Initially, he denied the allegations, but during the court proceedings, he admitted to the charges.

During the hearing, James Newton-Price, representing Sed, highlighted that his client was supported by his wife, who had shown understanding and forgiveness regarding his conduct. Newton-Price also emphasized that Sed, of Stirling Road, Bournemouth, had a history of good character prior to this incident.

However, Judge Roger Jarvis was unequivocal in his condemnation. He stated, “The very idea that a child of 11 years will be attracted to you is patently absurd. It matters not from whatever cultural background you arrive in this country, I’m quite sure that from wherever you come that observation of mine would hold true. This is a child on the brink of her adolescence, and the kind of behavior you exhibited causes her understandable concern.”

The judge further added, “You should be ashamed of yourself,” underscoring the gravity of Sed’s actions.

As a result of the court’s decision, Sed was sentenced to a community order that includes a supervision requirement for two years. He was also mandated to attend one-on-one sex offender treatment sessions. Additionally, Sed was subject to a sexual offences prevention order that restricts his presence in Winton at certain times. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of five years.

The victim’s mother expressed her distress over the impact of the assault on her daughter. She revealed that her child had lost her independence, stating, “She won’t get on the bus on her own anymore, and I have to pick her up from the stop every day.” The mother also shared that her daughter’s confidence had been severely affected by the incident.

She voiced her concern that the sentence handed down might not serve as a sufficient deterrent to other potential offenders. “It’s not the crime of the century,” she said, “but it was disgusting. The judge was right; Sed should be ashamed of himself. And there was no remorse from him.”
