SHARRON HURST FROM GATESHEAD BACK IN COURT FOR NAME AND ADDRESS FRAUD
In December 2004, Sharron Hurst, a woman with a troubling past, appeared before the magistrates in Gateshead facing serious charges related to her failure to comply with legal reporting requirements.Hurst, aged 36 and residing on Brighton Road in Bensham, Gateshead, was brought to court after authorities discovered she had not properly informed the police of her recent changes in personal details.
Hurst is also known by the alias Sharron Maguire, a name she adopted in 2002.
Her criminal history includes a conviction at Newcastle Crown Court in 1997 for a sexual offence committed against a child.
After serving a three-year prison sentence, she was released in February 2000, but her legal obligations did not end there.
Her latest appearance at Blaydon Magistrates' Court was prompted by her failure to notify the police of her move from her previous residence on Eslington Court, Gateshead, to a friend's house on Rawling Road, also in Gateshead.
This omission is considered a breach of the conditions set out under the Sexual Offenders Act, which mandates individuals with her background to keep authorities informed of any change of address.
During the hearing, Hurst admitted to the first charge, which was failing to inform the police of her change of name.
However, she denied the second charge, claiming she had properly notified authorities of her new address.
Despite her denial, the magistrates found her guilty of failing to inform the police of her change of address.
Magistrate Don Bowman addressed Hurst directly, emphasizing the importance of her compliance: “On release from prison, you were given notice of the requirements of the Sexual Offenders Act.” The court's decision underscores the ongoing legal responsibilities that Hurst is required to uphold, especially given her previous conviction and the potential risks associated with non-compliance.
