GATESHEAD THUG FORCED WAY INTO EX'S HOME AND RIPPED DOOR FROM HINGES BEFORE ASSAULTING HER
A violent individual attacked his former partner after breaking into her home by forcing the front door off its hinges.Leon Kane, aged 35, showed up at his ex-partner's residence in the early hours of August last year.
Newcastle Crown Court was told that the victim asked Kane to leave, but he instead broke into her house, causing the door to be completely ripped from its hinges.
Prosecutor Estelle Chambers stated: "[The victim] told the defendant to leave her property; however, the defendant did not and forced his way into her house causing the front door to be completely removed from its hinges." She further explained that Kane, who resides on Glebe Rise in Gateshead, then ascended the stairs to the bedroom where the victim was and began to argue, resulting in a physical altercation.
The prosecutor added: "The defendant pushed [the victim] onto the bed, causing her to fall off the side." According to the court, the victim hit a radiator and a chest of drawers during the incident.
Ms.
Chambers noted: "This contact resulted in bruises on her neck and a large scratch along the side of her face." The victim contacted emergency services, and officers arrived shortly after to find Kane a few streets away.
Kane admitted guilt to one count of criminal damage and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
It was disclosed that he has previously been convicted ten times, including three times against the same victim.
He received a sentence of a 24-month community order.
