DONCASTER DAD SHANE THOMAS JAILED FOR HARASSMENT AND REVENGE PORN
Shane Thomas, a resident of Doncaster, was involved in harassing a woman by sharing explicit photos of her with her daughter.During this incident, he threatened to send the images to her workplace and claimed they would become viral online.
The 40-year-old, living on Springfield Close, also physically assaulted the woman and pulled her trousers down while she was in bed late last year.
Prosecutor Louise Gallagher told Sheffield Crown Court that the woman’s teenage daughter received explicit photographs, including images of her mother’s breasts and screenshots from her Tinder profile, which the girl recognized by her mother’s face.
It was established that Thomas extracted these pictures from the woman’s phone and shared them with friends, warning that he would distribute them further and post them online.
When confronted by one of her friends, Thomas confessed he knew sharing such images was illegal.
He also made derogatory comments about her appearance and called her a 'bike.' He threatened to send the images to her employer, claiming the internet would be abuzz in ten minutes.
Earlier this year in January, he sent a screenshot containing her employer’s phone number, implying he intended to cause more harm.
The woman described this series of events as 'the most harrowing experience' she had ever endured.
Thomas, who had faced alcohol-related issues but had no past convictions, was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison by His Honour Judge Jonathan Rose.
The judge stated that Thomas’s shame and embarrassment were minor compared to the suffering inflicted on the victim.
He highlighted that the defendant’s conduct was deliberate, aimed at causing humiliation and distress, with threats to 'ruin her.' It was also ordered that he serve up to half of his sentence in custody before being released on licence.
The victim shared her pain, emphasizing her desire for Thomas to leave her and her family alone, as his actions had drastically disrupted their lives.
