SERENA MARIE EMILY RANSOM SENTENCED IN MIDDLESBROUGH FOR BREACHING SUSPENDED PRISON SENTENCE
Serena Marie Emily Ransom, a convicted sex offender from Middlesbrough, has been jailed after breaching her suspended prison sentence.
In 2015, Ransom was found guilty by a jury of making sexual advances towards two young girls, including giving one love bites.
The court convicted her of sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
She was sentenced to 18 months' detention in a young offenders' institution and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order that banned her from working or having unsupervised contact with individuals under 16.
In May of the previous year, Ransom appeared before Teesside Crown Court again, this time for violating her notification requirements.
The court was told she had created a TikTok profile in October 2020 without informing police and had stayed overnight in a house where children were present without reporting this.
Ransom received a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, along with a six-month curfew, 120 hours of unpaid work, and 30 days of rehabilitation.
Most recently, on a Wednesday afternoon, Ransom, of Brompton Street, Middlesbrough, admitted to breaching her suspended sentence during a court hearing in Middlesbrough.
Miss Recorder Kidd, presiding over the case, partly activated her earlier 12-month sentence and ordered her to serve six months behind bars.
Details from her 2015 conviction outlined that her first and youngest victim was considered 'particularly vulnerable' when Ransom sexually assaulted her by giving love bites.
The court also heard that Ransom gave another older girl love bites, kissed her on the lips, and asked her to touch her sexually.
During last year's hearing, it was revealed that the notification breaches were Ransom's third and fourth.
She was identified after a man, aware of her criminal history, spotted her TikTok account and sent a screenshot to authorities.
Nigel Soppitt, her defense lawyer, stated that the breaches were 'reckless rather than malicious' and emphasized that Ransom has 'no sexual interest in children.'
