Jake Harvey invited his former partner to a hotel room with the intention of relaxing together before attacking her.
He then violently struck her with a headbutt, punched her multiple times, and attempted to choke her, even pressing a pillow over her face.
Despite a restraining order that forbade him from making contact, the woman agreed to go with Harvey back to the Sporting Lodge Hotel in Middlesbrough on January 30.
Once inside the room, court proceedings in Teesside revealed that Harvey, aged 23, suddenly lost control.
He drank vodka and began throwing objects around the room, including a chair and a glass bottle.
Prosecutor Rachel Masters explained that the couple had been discussing their son and Harvey’s restricted access to him when Harvey’s temper escalated.
Harvey punched his ex-partner in the face six times, causing her to become confused and vomit.
He then grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall three times.
When she indicated she wanted to leave, Harvey reportedly told her, 'Not until I kill you first.' Harvey, whose address is Outram Street in Middlesbrough, admitted to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and breaching a restraining order.
The court sentenced him to two years in prison and imposed a restraining order lasting five years.
