SEAN WILLIAMS BOGNOR REGIS CHILD SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Bognor Regis, a local man named Sean Robert Williams has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to multiple serious sexual offences involving a young boy. The sentencing took place at Brighton Crown Court on Friday, January 20, with Williams, who is currently unemployed and resides on Gossamer Lane in Bognor Regis, facing the consequences of his actions.Williams, aged 27, was convicted of a total of fifteen charges, which included five counts of rape of a child, five counts of sexual assault on a child, inciting a young boy to engage in sexual activity, and distributing an indecent photograph of a child via the internet. These allegations paint a disturbing picture of the offences committed by Williams, which have undoubtedly caused significant harm and distress to the victim and their family.
The court, presided over by Recorder George Lawson-Rogers, sentenced Williams to an initial ten-year custodial sentence. Following this, he will be subject to a five-year extended period of supervision upon his release, under a licence that will monitor his activities and restrict his access to minors. The police and court authorities have taken additional measures to ensure public safety, including the issuance of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This order imposes strict restrictions on Williams’s interactions with children, effectively limiting his ability to come into contact with minors and reducing the risk of further offending.
Furthermore, Williams has been designated as a registered sex offender for life, a status that entails ongoing monitoring and registration requirements. Despite the gravity of the charges, Williams maintained a plea of not guilty to four additional counts related to the creation and possession of indecent images, including extreme pornography. However, the court decided not to proceed with these charges at this time, and they will remain on the court’s file, pending any future legal developments.
The case has garnered considerable attention within the Bognor Regis community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable individuals from harm. The authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring that offenders like Williams are held accountable and that public safety remains a top priority.
