PATRIK LIS FROM BOGNOR REGIS CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENSES NEAR THE ESPLANADE AND LONDON ROAD
A man from Bognor Regis, identified as Patrik Lis, has been found guilty in court of a series of serious sexual offenses committed within the town. The incidents, which took place in different locations around Bognor Regis, have shocked the local community and prompted a thorough police investigation. On the early morning of June 20, 2023, authorities received a distressing report of a sexual assault that occurred off The Esplanade, close to the beach area in Bognor. The victim, who is now 22 years old, was supported by specialist officers throughout the investigation, which aimed to uncover the details surrounding the incident and identify the perpetrator.
Following this initial report, police launched an extensive inquiry. In September of the same year, they arrested Patrik Lis, a 31-year-old resident of Sussex Street in Bognor Regis. He was subsequently released on bail under strict conditions while further evidence was collected to build a case against him. The investigation took a significant turn when a second report emerged, alleging a similar sexual assault had occurred around 5 a.m. on July 2, 2024, this time off London Road in Bognor Regis. The second victim, a 51-year-old woman, also received specialized support from authorities.
Investigators quickly linked the two incidents, establishing a pattern and identifying Lis as the prime suspect. Neither of the victims was known to Lis prior to the assaults, which added to the complexity of the case. In July, Lis was formally arrested, charged with multiple offenses, and remanded in custody pending trial.
On Wednesday, March 12, at Portsmouth Crown Court, Lis faced justice and was convicted on multiple counts. The charges included rape, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of causing actual bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault, as well as one count each of intentional suffocation and assault by penetration. The court's verdict reflects the severity of the crimes committed and the impact on the victims.
Lis has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 2. The case has garnered significant attention in Bognor Regis, highlighting the importance of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and justice for victims of sexual violence in the community.
