A former councillor from Moray who pleaded guilty to charges related to indecent images of children has been sentenced to perform unpaid community service.
Sean Morton, aged 36, who served as the Scottish Labour representative for Fochabers and Lhanbryde, admitted to two offences in Elgin Sheriff Court.
One charge involved possessing indecent images of minors, while the other related to viewing extreme pornography.
As part of his sentence, Morton was ordered to complete 140 hours of unpaid work over a nine-month period under a community payback arrangement.
Additionally, he received a three-year supervision order and has been registered as a sex offender.
Labour Party officials stated that Morton was no longer affiliated with the party at the time of sentencing.
The offences date back to 2013, with Morton first appearing in court on Christmas Eve in 2016.
