MAN SENTENCED FOR GROOMING AND RAPE OF 15-YEAR-OLD
Update 05/05/2026: A 33-year-old man has received a life sentence after being found guilty of nine separate child sex offences.Sean McDade, who previously resided in Northampton, committed abuse against a minor between May and July of the previous year.
During the sentencing hearing last week (April 30), a statement read aloud to the court by the victim revealed: “He scared me and made me think I would get in trouble if I told anyone.” The victim eventually disclosed the abuse, leading to McDade’s arrest.
He was already a registered sex offender at the time of his arrest and faced charges including six counts of assault by penetration of a girl under 13, three counts of raping a girl under 13, and one count of inciting or causing a child under 13 to participate in sexual activity.
McDade admitted guilt to these charges during a court hearing at Northampton Crown Court in January.
Last week (April 30), he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 12 years after his conviction.

The victim, a 15-year-old girl, was lured and groomed through the social media platform Facebook, where McDade engaged her in conversations that ultimately led to a tragic encounter.
On the day of his trial at Northampton Crown Court, McDade, aged 19 at the time, pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges, including rape, sexual assault, inciting a child into sexual activity, and grooming a minor.
His actions shocked the local community and highlighted the dangers of online grooming and the exploitation of vulnerable youths.
Sean McDade resided at Sladeswell Court, Prior Meadow, Northampton, at the time of the offenses.
His crimes resulted in a significant prison sentence, with the court imposing a total of eight years behind bars.
Additionally, the judge ordered that McDade must register as a sex offender for life, emphasising the severity of his misconduct and the ongoing risk he poses to society.
Following his conviction, McDade was released from prison in March 2019, having served part of his sentence.
However, he was subsequently recalled to prison to complete the remainder of his term.
After serving a total of four years, he was released again and is currently residing in a probation hostel within Northampton, under supervision as part of his ongoing rehabilitation and monitoring process.
