BLACKBURN MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AFTER FACEBOOK CONTACT

A 24-year-old man named Scott Walker from Blackburn breached a restraining order the day he was released from prison for an assault on his former partner.

The Blackburn magistrates heard that Walker contacted Adele Taylor via Facebook asking to speak with her.

This contact led to him being sentenced to 12 weeks in custody for breaching the restraining order.

Walker, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the violation.

During the court proceedings, Helen Oates, his defense lawyer, stated that Walker's intention was simply to ask Miss Taylor if he could retrieve the rest of his clothes.

She added, “There is no suggestion of any threats or aggression.”
