SCOTT PALMER FROM NORTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A man named Scott Palmer, also known by the alias Scott Tarry, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison after admitting to a series of serious sexual offences committed against a young girl. The crimes, which are classified as non-recent due to the passage of time, involve disturbing acts of abuse that took place when Palmer was just 16 years old.
Palmer, who previously resided on Gloucester Crescent in Northampton, began abusing the 12-year-old girl during a two-year period.
His actions included forcing her into sexual acts on multiple occasions, with some of these acts involving rape.
The severity and duration of the abuse highlight the profound impact on the victim, who demonstrated remarkable courage in coming forward to report the crimes.
The allegations only came to light years after the abuse occurred, when the girl bravely approached Northamptonshire Police to disclose her ordeal.
An investigation was promptly initiated, leading to the eventual charging of Palmer with numerous serious offences.
These charges included three counts of rape, four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, four counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration with a part of the body or an object, one count of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of causing or inciting sexual activity involving a girl aged 13 to 15 by an offender aged 18 or over.
In a court hearing held at Northampton Crown Court in May, Palmer pleaded guilty to all 13 charges.
The case was revisited on December 11, when the court sentenced him to the aforementioned prison term.
The judge’s decision reflects the gravity of the offences and the impact on the victim.
Detective Sergeant Elli Amson, who led the investigation, expressed her support for the victim and emphasized the importance of justice.
She stated, “The survivor in this case suffered horrendous abuse at the hands of this man, and I am really pleased that he has been sent to prison for his crimes.
She has been extremely brave in coming forward and supporting this case, which has taken a number of years to conclude, and she should be commended for the dignity and strength she has shown throughout.” Sergeant Amson also highlighted that Palmer was 16 years old at the time of the offences, and therefore was sentenced as a juvenile.
She underscored that Northamptonshire Police takes allegations of sexual abuse very seriously, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes occurred.
The case serves as a reminder that justice can be pursued even years after the abuse, and law enforcement remains committed to holding offenders accountable.
