SCOTT FORBES AND GANG IN GLASGOW: HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE RING EXPOSED
In a disturbing case that has shocked the city of Glasgow, seven individuals have been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of children. These convictions come after a lengthy investigation and trial, which is believed to be the largest prosecution of a child abuse ring in Scotland's history.Among those found guilty are five men and two women, who faced justice in November for their involvement in a series of appalling acts. The severity of their crimes has prompted the court to consider imposing severe sentences, with the possibility of life imprisonment. However, the sentencing process has been delayed, as Judge Lord Beckett has ordered comprehensive risk assessments to be conducted before finalizing the punishment.
The case has been adjourned until the 5th of April, with the likelihood of additional court dates to follow, given the time required to complete the necessary evaluations. The convictions include charges of sexual abuse and rape, with some defendants, including Owens, Lannery, Brannan, and Williams, also being found guilty of attempting to murder a child by pushing her into a microwave and trapping her in various locations. These acts of violence and cruelty highlight the extreme depravity involved in this case.
In addition to the main defendants, Marianne Gallagher, a woman involved in the abuse, was convicted of assaulting a young girl. Meanwhile, three other individuals—Mark Carr, aged 50, Richard Gachagan, aged 45, and Leona Laing, aged 51—were acquitted by the jury, meaning they will not face charges related to this case.
The trial, held at the High Court in Glasgow, revealed harrowing details of the abuse. The court heard that two girls and a boy, all under the age of 13 at the time, were subjected to repeated violent and sexual assaults over a period spanning from 2012 to 2019. The perpetrators used Class A drugs openly in front of the children, often forcing them to consume alcohol and illegal substances, further traumatizing the young victims.
One of the most disturbing revelations was that a girl was raped by members of the gang while she was still young enough to wear a nappy. She described her experience as being confined in a
