2015: KNIFE-WIELDING HALESOWEN MAN JAILED AFTER ATTACKING GIRLFRIEND AS RELATIONSHIP ENDED
A Halesowen man who wielded a knife and assaulted his former partner after their stormy relationship has been sentenced to 16 months in prison.Prosecutor Mr.
Delroy Henry explained that Scott Deeley left Jade Goodwins with injuries including cuts on her hand and arm, as well as bruising across her body.
The pair had been involved in a tumultuous on-and-off relationship for nearly a year, which had started to break down.
Deeley then exchanged a series of disturbing text messages with her.
Despite their disagreements, they agreed to meet in a bid to resolve matters, as told in court.
The two went out drinking together, but Deeley later returned to his Narrow Lane home, with Miss Goodwin following to collect her belongings.
An altercation ensued, during which Deeley pushed her to the ground; she later woke up in the kitchen receiving medical attention from paramedics.
Deeley admitted to assaulting his former partner causing her bodily harm, and the court was told the knife used was later found by police with blood on it.
Recorder Leo Pyle stated: “It was you who brought the knife to the door.
Your conduct was sustained and repeated.” Defense solicitor Mr.
Andrew Molloy accepted Deeley’s actions as unlawful but not deliberate, describing them as reckless.
He highlighted that both individuals had consumed large quantities of alcohol, and remarked that the relationship was definitively over.
The prosecution revealed that the knife was stained with blood and recovered by police, with Mr.
Henry describing the incident as the culmination of a very turbulent relationship.
